Computational Continuum Mechanics Research Group
There are many research groups on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) or Computational Solid Mechanics (CSM), sometimes working on fundamentals of numerical modelling or on practical applications of simulation tools. The motto of our group is that true progress results in matching the numerical skills to the problem at hand. SImulation tools live in their practical applications to real-life problems, which are just as challenging as any abstract or academic problem.
I have dedicated my career to the development, dissemination and application of Open Source software in Computational Continuum Mechanics (CCM) which can empower researchers to contribute and collaborate across a range of physics modelling problems. OpenFOAM, as a result of this research has exceeeded all expectations.
With this success comes the responsibility: teach people how to apply the software to their chosen field, educate the next generation of developers and ensure that the simulation platform endures into the future. This research group is a focus of my efforts.
